All are produced in a 12 foot width. For Part 91 aircraft we begin with our nylon pile collections, from solids of Velvet Cloud to the contemporary organic feel of Misty, Wisp and Stratus. OmnAvia’s carpets are luxurious, stylish and durable, and they all are at surprisingly affordable price points.

Perhaps the least appreciated aspect of using natural wool products is that wool actually purifies indoor air of common contaminants. The International Wool Bureau has studied this effect and found that it is excellent at removing toxins such as formaldehyde, nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide. Wool does this by locking the pollutants deep in the core of the fiber. Our product will naturally purify indoor air for up to 30 years. We use only the finest natural wool, sourced primarily from New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

About Broadloom Wool Carpets

Wool is the most commonly used natural fiber in aircraft carpeting. While synthetic fibers comprise the vast majority of the carpet fiber market, wool has its own niche in the marketplace and continues to be a highly-valued fiber option. Wool is a naturally resilient fiber, although not as so much as nylon. (The term resiliency refers to a fiber’s ability to bounce back after compression.) This "springiness" attribute means that wool's texture retention feature gives the carpet the ability to retain its original appearance. Wool’s inherent fire resistance comes from its naturally high nitrogen and water content, requiring higher levels of oxygen in the surrounding environment in order to burn. Wool may be ignited if subjected to a significantly powerful heat source, but does not normally support flame, and will instead smoulder, usually only for a short time. In addition, wool’s cross-linked cell membrane structure will swell when heated to the point of combustion, forming an insulating layer that prevents the spread of flame. This also means that wool produces less smoke and toxic gas than synthetic fibers. Our wool carpets also work to dampen the noise produced by the aircraft.

About Nylon/ Wool Blend Carpets

Carpet blends are achieved when one fiber is blended with another, either within the strand of yarn (intimate blend) or when strands of two different fiber types are tufted within the same pattern. This is done especially with wool and nylon carpets since these are the two best performing carpet fibers.

Carpet manufacturers produce wool blends and nylon blends in order to help bring down the cost and to enhance performance. This combines the beneficial characteristics of each fiber with the other. Carpet blend ratios vary. Some blends are 80% wool/ 20% nylon, some 50% /50%, and you can find examples of nearly everything in between. Some blends have three fibers, for example; 76% wool / 19% nylon / 5% viscose. The belends are selected to achieve the desired performance or appearance the designer has in mind.

About Nylon Carpets

Nylon (polyamide or PA) is considered to be the most durable synthetic carpet fiber available. The secret to nylon's durability lies in its resiliency—its ability to literally “bounce back” from compaction, so it won't hold compression marks from vacuums or foot traffic for long. This is the most common synthetic carpet fiber in the aviation market today, accounting for about 65 percent of carpet sales. Nylon carpets are popular because of its durability, its ease of cleaning, and its attractive price when compared to wool and silk fiber carpets.
