As the world faces a stressful time with the rise of the Corona-virus pandemic, the message for all of us is clear—stay at home to avoid the spread of the virus. But for 6.6 million people here in the U.S., social distancing is a luxury they simply cannot afford. Most viruses and other germs do not spread easily on flights because of how air circulates and is filtered on airplanes. However, social distancing is difficult on crowded flights, and you may have to sit near others (within 6 feet), sometimes for hours

Within the aviation industry, passengers and airline crew can follow the World Health Organisation recommendations to prevent the spread of the virus. 1) Cleaning hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. 2) All cabin surfaces should be cleaned with approved broad-spectrum disinfectants 3) Where soap and water are not available, using alcohol-based sanitizers. Aircraft cabin maintenance & cleaning will be a huge task during these challenging times.Hence, practicing routine cleaning and disinfection of frequently touched surfaces has been recommended.
